Your Role: Payroll Manager

The payroll department primarily works directly with clients but will collaborate with the Client Managers. The payroll bureau is responsible for raising the majority of its own fees on a monthly or quarterly basis. The Payroll Manager is a key member of the Business Services Team.  Supported by two dedicated payroll assistants and other accounts staff from the wider team on part time or Adhoc basis. The Payroll Manager ensures that our bureau services are accurate, timely and efficient.

The responsibilities of the Payroll Manager will include:

  • Provision of an accurate end to end payroll service for multiple clients on a weekly, fortnightly, monthly and annual basis.
  • Providing CIS compliance and administration to a number of clients
  • Responding to clients on pay related queries
  • Auto enrolment administration and processing
  • Furlough claim calculations and submissions
  • Providing solutions for client payroll queries
  • Keeping up to date with payroll legislation changes
  • Sort and confirm the accuracy of documentation received from clients
  • Submission of relevant payroll forms online to HMRC as required
  • Client administration, including billing (Xero)
  • Supporting other areas of the practice with payroll and PAYE queries
  • Coaching and supporting other team members
  • Communicating clearly with clients and colleagues on a timely basis using the most effective medium
  • Commit to team objectives, taking ownership for the successful completion of your own work and pride in the achievements of your team and other team members
  • Demonstrating enthusiasm and commitment to continuous learning and development
  • Active participation in the life of the firm
  • Continuously reviewing and streamlining processes to enhance efficiency of the Payroll Department

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • 3 years’ experience in a payroll bureau or busy internal payroll team
  • A keen attention to detail
  • Outstanding client service skills
  • Strong organisation and prioritisation skills
  • Confident using MS 365 software, experience of IRIS payroll, an advantage
  • Clear and effective spoken and written communications skills
  • A commitment to your ongoing personal development
