Your Role: Payroll Supervisor
Role Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Supervisor to join our growing payroll bureau and assist the delivery of outsourced payroll services to a wide range of clients. The successful candidate will bring strong payroll expertise, excellent client management skills, and the ability to handle multiple payrolls with accuracy and professionalism. Experience with Staffology and/or IRIS desktop would be a significant advantage.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Payroll Supervisor will include:
- Manage the end-to-end processing of multiple client payrolls, weekly and monthly ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.
- Act as the main point of contact for payroll clients, providing excellent service and responding to queries promptly and professionally.
- Review and approve payroll calculations, statutory payments, pension contributions, and adjustments before final submission.
- Maintain HMRC compliance including RTI submissions, tax codes, and statutory reporting.
- Support clients with onboarding, system setup, and understanding payroll processes.
- Liaise with client accountants, bookkeepers, HR representatives, and pension providers as required.
- Prepare payroll summaries, reports, and year-end documentation (P60s, P11Ds, etc.).
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and support our current software transition.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and data security in line with GDPR.

Person Specification
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Proven experience in payroll, ideally within an accountancy practice or bureau environment.
- Strong working knowledge of PAYE, NI, statutory payments, auto-enrolment, and UK payroll legislation.
- Experience using Staffology and/or IRIS payroll software is beneficial but not essential.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage high-volume, multi-client workloads.
- Confident communicator with strong client service skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive data professionally.
